Engagement + Couple’s Session Location Ideas

If you live in the area or are traveling to us for your engagement or couple’s session, here are some great ideas for locations!

Big Pines (Brimley, MI)

One of my favorite spots to shoot because you can get a lot of variety in one location- from the woods to the beach! Ideal for summer sessions as there isn’t much fall color here and it’s not plowed in the winter.

Monocle Lake (Brimley, MI)

Lots of variety here- from the road in, which is a tunnel of trees, to a short hike to a boardwalk/field spots, to the beach and hillside views. This spot is one of my favorites in the fall, but it’s gorgeous in the summer too.

Miner’s Beach/Falls (Munising, MI)

These two locations are a short drive from each other. The beach has stunning cliff views & a great variety of settings. The falls is a short hike in, but if you want to get down in the falls it is a climb to the bottom (but so worth it!). Can be muddy/wet in the spring or fall if there’s been a lot of rain.

Narnia Hiking Trail (Hessel, MI)

This can be a bit of a drive depending on where you’re coming from, but it’s absolutely stunning. A bit like the PNW in Michigan! Lots of beautiful forest + the lake with it’s giant moss-covered boulders. Truly out of a fairytale 😍

Be prepared to hike- it’s 4 miles total if you want to make it to the end of the trail. You could shorten it to around 2 miles if you just hike in to the boulders.

Big Bear Trail (Sault, MI)

One of my favorite winter session spots- there are a lot of pines here and when the boughs are weighted with snow, it’s so gorgeous! Also a nice summer spot but spring/fall it gets on the muddy side. Trail is easily accessed from the parking lot and is a short walk for lots of photo ops!
